Happy Wednesday. Have a Bryan Autoplane.
Leland “Dewey” Bryan, a resident of Milford, Michigan, built three versions of his hybrid car/plane, or “roadable.” I believe this is the two-seat Version III, which was powered by a Continental A75 engine and used Chevy Corvair convertible top motors to fold the wings. Bryan died in 1974 during a demonstration at Oshkosh when one of the wings broke off.

Any design that depends on prop thrust for acceleration on the road is doomed to failure. Nobody will put up with the noise and slow acceleration.

Also any minor fender bender or even parking lot ding suddenly becomes a major issue.
FWIW I think the 6 cylinder singles (Cessna 182 for example) could keep up with traffic.

They probably could keep up. I’d imagine that things would get tricky at speed. Even folded, the roots of the wings would produce lift at highway speeds, reducing the grip of the tires on the pavement. I’d bet that makes it somewhat squirrely on curves.
